Tvinci enables content to be streamed Over-the-Top to HbbTV Hybrid STBs

Tvinci to demonstrate updated Pay-OTT Platform at Mobile World Congress

Tvinci Partners With PeerTV to Deliver Pay-OTT TV to Set-Top Boxes

Barcelona, Spain – February 10th, 2011 – Tvinci, the Pay-OTT platform provider, today announced that it will be demonstrating an updated OTT services platform at Mobile World Congress that will enable broadcasters to deliver content to HbbTV hybrid set-top boxes. This offering is intended for future expansion to include HbbTV connected TVs, tablets and other devices. The project, which will be introduced at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, is built upon Tvinci’s existing OTT platform for centrally managing content, business rights and user experience across devices.

The standardization of hybrid TV enhances one of the main concepts Tvinci has been pushing for a long while: consistency in content consumption across devices. Broadcasters and operators can now extend their offerings more easily, by leveraging HbbTV for the introduction of multiple storefronts (PC/MAC, Smartphones, Tablets, Game consoles).

“With the undisputed awakening of OTT TV and the projected increase of internet connected TVs of 46% in 2013 (ABI Research 2010), integrating OTT services to their offerings is a natural transition for operators,” says Ido Weisenberg, co-founder, Tvinci. “HbbTV introduces a new gateway for OTT TV to the living room, a gateway constructed from the broadcasters’ acknowledgment of the alternative content sources users enjoy nowadays.”

Tvinci offers viewers a consistent, personalized viewing experience across the various screens. This continuity is enabled thanks to a single platform being used for managing video assets, business rights and viewer experience on the selected devices. For the same reason, it is easy to expand the service to additional devices in the future, ensuring the particular user's favourite content is available for them wherever they go. Viewers enjoy this unmatched availability as well as increased level of personalization in terms of content discovery, business models and payment methods.

Ofer Shayo, Tvinci’s CEO, believes consumers will benefit from the updated platform: “TV viewers want greater content availability, and broadcasters are looking for ways to create a compelling OTT TV service that answers this growing need. We now offer them an immediate, turnkey solution for delivering content to multiple devices and effectively monetizing it through ads, Pay per View packages and subscriptions. Consumers will soon have premium content from some of the world’s leading broadcasters streamed to them anytime and anywhere through a personalized service."

Note to Editors:

Tvinci will showcase its Pay-OTT TV platform and recent deployments in MWC 2011, hall 2, stand 2C75.
